Influencers are becoming huge in today's social media realm. Social media users are looking to influencers for advice on what products to buy instead of celebrities or traditional advertisements. Below I'm going to tell you why every brand should be using influencers from here on out.
1. Users trust influencers more than celebrities Today's social media users are more likely to trust an influencer on the products they recommend rather than celebrities. This is because often relate to these influencers and they're just average people. 2. Influencers will try your product for free Many influencers are willing to try your product for free and talk about your product for no cost. That means free advertising for your company. 3. Influencers are becoming more influential on consumers than traditional advertisements Statistics show that 40% of people say they’ve purchased an item online after seeing it used by an influencer on Instagram, Twitter, Vine, or YouTube (Twitter and Annalect, 2016). Influencers are showing a great return on investment for many brands they are working with. 4. Consumers are done with paid advertisements Consumers are sick of seeing paid advertisements on their social media timelines. Using influencers is a great way to have a nontraditional form of advertisements but still getting a higher retention rate. 5. Helps your Search Engine Optimization The more people talking about your brand the higher you rank on Google's search engine. This can lead to increase in sales and brand awareness.

PR Pubs was honestly probably my favorite class of this semester. I enjoyed the format of this course. I like that we had time to learn the Adobe program before actually creating a design. I also liked that we had a "taste sampling" of many different design programs and could see which one was our favorite. I personally favored Adobe In Design the most. I liked journaling every week. Although sometimes it was a hassle when looking back I liked seeing how much I had grown and changed over the semester. This blog I think will stay around. I might change it up a bit and blog every week about my personal life and not just my classes but I found that journaling has helped me relieve stress and reflect on my weeks. I think I grew as a creative by really figuring out what was my design style and how I like creating simplistic designs the best. I think overall I grew so much a creative person this semester and just as a person in general. This semester was a tough one but I wouldn't change it at all.
As the semester is coming to a close, I can't help but feel bittersweet about it. I'm looking forward to a much-needed break from school work, but I'm sad to be heading back home and not seeing my friends for awhile. This semester in PR writing has been different and unique. Having a writing class online was different, but I enjoyed being able to work on assignments on my own time with just a deadline to follow. This class made it feel like I was in a real job where I was accountable for my own time but needed have things done by a deadline. PR writing has helped me pick up on how to write clearly and concisely and how to remove unnecessary words. I have also learned to write much more quickly and efficiently as well. The early days in this course were honestly overwhelming. I wasn't used to writing in a precise way, and I felt like I had to be perfect at everything since this was the type of writing pieces I would be doing in my future career. With time, I started grasping assignments easier and realized that I'd never be perfect at something the first go around, but with practice, I can get better. A project I took a lot of pride in was the Op-Ed. One, because I didn't even know that was something PR professionals wrote about but also because when I'm passionate about something, I think it reflects the quality of my work. I think an assignment I could've given a better effort on was the PSA. I was unsure of how to do it, and I believe I should've sought help instead of turning in an assignment I wasn't confident about. Overall, this semester I learned a lot about how to be a great PR professional writer, and I look forward to using my new skills in my future career.
This week Croom assigned us our final project. The project is supposed to be a reflection of what we learned this semester, and from there we had the option to choose how we wanted to display that. Part of this project was to look back at our weekly blog posts from PR Pubs and wow did I learn a lot. At the beginning of the semester, I was hopeful but also very confused and lost in this class as mentioned here. As the semester progressed, I started to grasp things easier and figure out what my design style was. As the semester continued, I saw this in my classmates as well. The room went from loud chatter and confusion to a quiet and peaceful environment the farther along in the semester we worked. Everyone's moods had shifted from insecure and unsure to confident and steadfast. Or, at least that's how I felt. I think one of the main reasons I enjoyed this class as much as I did was because of my professor Croom. He is always so invested in helping his students and giving us feedback. Honestly, this was my favorite class of the semester because of the people I was surrounded by and how much I learned about myself. This semester has been the toughest semester that I have experienced thus far, and near the beginning, I was unhopeful and didn't know what do with myself. This class was almost a safe haven for me because it helped me zone out of my everyday life and enjoy being in the moment by being able to express myself creatively. I learned this semester that with time things get easier whether that's in the classroom or life in general. As Dory from Finding Nemo would say, "Just Keep Swimming". With the semester coming to an end soon I can't help but think how grateful I am to go to a university where both students and professors are always rooting for me. As I mentioned in my previous blog post the past 2 weeks we have been working on editing and putting together a video of the person we interviewed from class. The past few days I have been working on assembling the video at home. I am becoming faster each time I use the program but I am by no means fast as at all. Adobe Premiere Pro has been a hard program for me to grasp but I mostly think it is because I am in general not good at video editing to begin with. This project was one of the most time consuming ones of the semester but I really did enjoy it. Learning how to navigate Premiere Pro was a bit of a struggle but overall I feel that my video turned out good! Only one more week of classes makes me sad the school year is coming to an end but I'm excited to see what our final project will be. This week in class we worked on editing our video clips from last week on Adobe Premiere Pro. After watching many tutorials I put my skills to the test and started editing. Watching the Lynda videos helped me be able to go navigate this adobe program much easier. It still took me a good amount of time to edit and cut some clips but the video is starting to come together nicely. I'm excited to put a story together about Bailey and how passionate she is about mission work and nonprofits. Photo from Bailey's mission trip.
This week in PR Pubs was exciting but completely foreign to me. On Tuesday, we went to the cage in Gaylord where you can rent out cameras and other equipment. The man who worked there showed our class how to work the cameras we rented out. It was a learning experience because I had never used such a nice camera before. On Thursday, we put our new camera training to the test. I was partnered with Bailey from class and we each interviewed each other. It was interesting to hear about how passionate she was about mission work. It was something that really struck home with me because mission work is also such a huge part of my life. I found out how much Bailey and I had in common with our interests and of course our majors. It was cool to learn more about a classmate I probably would've never gotten to know without this assignment. I would consider her a friend now which is awesome especially since were both pursuing the same degree. I'm excited to edit the footage we got this past week and put it all together into a video. It will be a bit bumpy, but I'm looking forward to gaining more experience in using Adobe Premiere. Now that I've used such a high tech camera I would definitely consider myself a "professional". This week in PR writing we wrote a PSA or public service announcement. I have written a PSA before for the class Writing for Mass Media, but I hadn't written one in over a year, so it was good to learn how to write it again. Writing a PSA helped me realize what words were essential to get the point across and which ones were just extra and didn't add anything. Learning this skill set helped me widen my horizons on different pieces I can write. It also helped me further my efficiency and preciseness when it comes to writing. This skill set will help me as a PR Professional to be able to write quickly and precisely under pressure with ease. I look forward to learning how to write more PR pieces in the last few weeks of the semester.
This week in PR Writing we wrote a letter to the editor and an op-ed. As the semester continued each week we learned a new writing piece/pieces that I didn't even know were apart of PR. Learning how to write these pieces has helped me pick up on how to write precisely and efficiently. Learning these skill sets will help me as a PR professional be able to write more effectively. Each week I am adding and improving writing skills for my future profession. I look forward to gaining more experience in writing different pieces in the following weeks.
This week in PR Pubs was used to further our understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro. When coming into class from last week, I had a rough foundation of how to use Adobe Premiere Pro. I had learned the basics but I was still unsure of some of the elements Premiere Pro offered. I was just feeling overwhelmed which comes with any new program I've learned this semester. On Tuesday, Croom went over in more detail how this program worked and the importance of being able to pick a key concept/idea from what a person says in an interview for our upcoming project. What I like about his lecture was his emphasis on making sure we understood the program and had a strong foundation before jumping into a project. After Croom had finished lecturing, we were able to watch more Lynda videos and see how everything worked again. I think being able to look at the videos and not following along with the program helped me tremendously grasp the basics of Premiere Pro. I was able to see the person behind the videos thought process and how organization is key to being able to work this program efficiently. This helped clear up some of my concerns on how to effectively choose a clip without having to go through and watching each one. On Thursday we continued watching Lynda videos and this time I applied my knowledge and followed along with Premiere Pro open. Doing this went much smoother than the week before because I felt more confident with my knowledge of the program. I look forward to working on our next project, an interview with a fellow classmate and putting the skills and knowledge of what I've learned in the past two weeks to the test.
