As the semester is coming to a close, I can't help but feel bittersweet about it. I'm looking forward to a much-needed break from school work, but I'm sad to be heading back home and not seeing my friends for awhile. This semester in PR writing has been different and unique. Having a writing class online was different, but I enjoyed being able to work on assignments on my own time with just a deadline to follow. This class made it feel like I was in a real job where I was accountable for my own time but needed have things done by a deadline. PR writing has helped me pick up on how to write clearly and concisely and how to remove unnecessary words. I have also learned to write much more quickly and efficiently as well. The early days in this course were honestly overwhelming. I wasn't used to writing in a precise way, and I felt like I had to be perfect at everything since this was the type of writing pieces I would be doing in my future career. With time, I started grasping assignments easier and realized that I'd never be perfect at something the first go around, but with practice, I can get better. A project I took a lot of pride in was the Op-Ed. One, because I didn't even know that was something PR professionals wrote about but also because when I'm passionate about something, I think it reflects the quality of my work. I think an assignment I could've given a better effort on was the PSA. I was unsure of how to do it, and I believe I should've sought help instead of turning in an assignment I wasn't confident about. Overall, this semester I learned a lot about how to be a great PR professional writer, and I look forward to using my new skills in my future career.
